Going bald and losing hair can be depressing if you love your hair. I will be talking about natural ways to regain your hair health. Even if you are not dealing with hair loss, but don’t have the amount of hair you would want you can try these natural remedies to grow more hair. These remedies also help with hair health. Helping hair to get softer and more voluminous over time.
When I was younger, I did not have any brows. So naturally, my mother tried everything to help grow my brows. I cannot say I have the perfect eyebrows that are thick and full, but they are brows. I will always be thankful for my mom for taking the time to research and applying oils to help grow my eyebrows with time.
Now let’s get to the list of remedies that will stop hair loss and/ or grow hair.
1. It Will Not Be Fast
You need to be okay with the idea that none of the remedies below will start working immediately. You need patience and perseverance to achieve the results that will be worth it.
2. Get Trims
It is very important to get regular trims to lay a better foundation for the new and fresh hair coming in. Trimming your hair will allow new hair to grow stronger, and the current hair to grow faster and smoother.
3. Forget About Biotin Supplements
I have seen too many ads all around about biotin supplements. However, I do not agree. I do not believe they work. You already get biotin your body needs from your natural eating habits. The extra biotin you take just gets removed from your body. So you are only taking in chemicals you actually do not need nor does it help you in any way. I have tried them too and saw no effects what so ever.
4. Be Careful What You Eat
Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids—such as salmon and mackerel—two or three times a week, or sprinkle a tablespoon or two of freshly ground flaxseed onto salads or cereal each day. omega-3 fatty helps increase hair strength and thickness. It also increases hair elasticity, resulting in more beautiful, bouncier hair.
5. Get Rid of Bad Habits
Not drinking enough water, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol and intaking caffeine. These will hamper your immune system and cause hair loss. Be careful what you eat and drink to make sure you are causing harm to your body.
Stress and anxiety can cause acne, illness, hair loss and more. So take your time to find your happy place, and create a routine that will help you relax. Don’t think of just yoga or contemporary means of meditation. What works on someone doesn’t have to work on everyone else. For example, if I had to sit and do yoga to relax, I’d just be more stressed.
Writing is a type of meditation for me when I’m stressed I try to write. Watching tv shows, movies, or talking with friends. It can be anything that will truly relax you.
7. Sweat It Out
Exercising unclogs your pores and detoxes your skin. So exercise regularly to get rid of toxins that may be clogging up your pores and causing your hair to start thinning.
8. Essential Oils
Essential oils have been proven to prevent hair thinning and balding. Here are some of the best essential oils to grow hair and prevent hair loss.
Heating this oil and applying it directly to the problematic areas will give you solutions in no time. You can also mix with other carrier oils to increase its effects. However, it is incredibly important to heat the oil to get the benefits you are looking for.
Argan oil is used in many hair products for its hair benefits. It can help heal scalp problems that may cause your hair loss. Massage a few drops of argan oil onto your scalp for 10 minutes and start seeing hair growth. It also strengthens and thickens the hair.
Besides from smelling amazing lavender oils is used in many home remedies. It is a great remedy for stress, sleep disorder, pain relief and more. For our purposes today we will talk about its wonderful use- prevent hair loss and grow hair.
It promotes hair growth and makes the hair grow faster than usual. There are many studies done on mice which were a success. However, there are not sufficient studies done on humans. But it is an essential oil so, as long as you don’t have an allergy, it should be safe to use. You can try and see for yourself.
For a fuller and stronger hair, sage oil does wonders. Sage oil is a remedy for hair loss and baldness, as it boosts hair growth and strength.
One of the biggest reasons for hair loss is the production of dihydrotestosterone. Dihydrotestosterone is a hormone which attacks hair follicle and weakens them, leading to hair loss. Olive oil blocks the production of dihydrotestosterone thereby preventing hair loss. Olive oil also soothes the scalp, makes the hair softer and reduces split ends.
Castor oil has been widely used in hair care remedies as it hydrates the scalp, nourishes and strengthens the hair. It is rich in ricinoleic acid which is a fatty acid that fights inflammation. When applied to the scalp, it enhances the health of the hair follicles. Castor oil promotes hair growth and protects against hair loss.
**Make sure to test a small amount of the oil on your arm and wait 24 hours to see if any reaction develops. Redness, hives, or a rash could indicate an allergic reaction.
9. Green tea
Antioxidants in green tea will prevent hair loss, help you grow more and healthier hair. Brew 2 tea bags of green tea and apply it on your hair and scalp. Leave it on for a couple of hours then wash it with warm water. You will start seeing a difference in 2 months.
10. Onion Juice
Onions have sulfur that boosts collagen production in the tissues and helps in the regrowth of hair. Peel the onions and chop them up. Blend them and juice the onions. Apply the juice onto your scalp with the help of a cotton ball and leave it on for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes you can wash and shampoo your hair. You can apply onion juice once a week.
11. Apple Cider Vinegar
Okay at this point it has become a cliche that apple cider vinegar is a cure-all home remedy for all kinds of things. But seriously it’s a cliche for a reason, it really does work. Apple cider vinegar cleanses the scalp and the hair while it balances the pH levels. Which in return helps with hair growth.
12. Aloe Vera Gel
Getting aloe vera gel directly from an aloe vera plant is super important to make sure it is all natural and fresh. Aloe Vera has properties that help with hair growth. It moisturizes the scalp, stimulates hair follicles, exfoliates the skin and gets rid of dead skin. Apply the gel directly to your scalp and wait for an hour, then rinse it off.
Honey is great for hydrating and strengthening hair. There are many hair mask recipes that include honey for a reason. Besides strengthening hair, it also helps with hair loss and regrowth.
14. Rice Water
Rice water contains vitamins and minerals beneficial for hair growth. It contains vitamins E, K, and B6 and proteins that nourish the scalp and hair. Rice water help in the regeneration and growth of hair.
Rice water also contains amino acids that strengthen the hair roots, increase hair volume, and make your hair shiny. Just soak rice in water, and you will get rice water which you can use to wash your hair with.
15. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne Pepper stimulates hair growth with the help of capsaicin it has. Capsaicin causes the nerves to activate and increase the blood flow to the scalp. This results in increased absorption of nutrients and better hair growth. Making cayenne pepper a great way to stop hair loss and thinning.
16. Egg Mask
Proteins, minerals, and B-complex vitamins that are essential hair nutrients that help curb hair loss by strengthening the roots of your hair. Nutrients also help stimulate new hair growth, by adding volume and thickening your hair.
If your hair is naturally oily, you might want to just stick to egg whites as it is rich in proteins and will help with hair growth.
If you have dry and damaged hair, you might want to use a whole egg to give you the protein your hair needs to grow hair and to condition your hair. You can mix yogurt and honey into your eggs to create a better mask to increase and promote hair growth.
Ginger has oils and enzymes that improve blood circulation which in return helps with hair thinning. It also protects the hair and hair follicles making them stronger and healthier. You can peel and grate ginger, rub it on the areas where you need help to grow hair or stop hair loss. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then rinse the area. You can do this remedy twice a week.
Yogurt hydrates the scalp and gets rid of fungus that may be the cause of your hair loss. Yogurt can exfoliate and unclog pores on your scalp, enabling hair to grow. You can apply yogurt straight to your scalp and hair strands if you would like, it is a great moisturizer and an anti-fungal.
After applying yogurt to your scalp and hair, do not forget to wear a hair cap, so the runny yogurt doesn’t drip all over. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse as you usually do.
19. Potato Juice
Potatoes have vitamins A, B, and C which are essential vitamins to healthy and strong hair. Potato juice makes it a great remedy for hair thinning and loss. Peel the potatoes and extract its juice by blending the potatoes, apply the juice on your scalp and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash your hair as usual.
20. Carrot Juice
Carrots contains vitamins C, K, E, B1, B2, and B6 and minerals (potassium, manganese, molybdenum, and phosphorus). They also contain carotenoids that act as antioxidants. All of these revitalize hair follicles, make your hair longer and thicker. Wash and juice the carrots then apply it to your scalp with the help of a cotton ball. Leave it on for 15 minutes then wash it as usual.
With all these natural remedies now is your turn to try and see what works for you. If you are done dreading to brush your hair because you are afraid to see how much hair you have lost it is time to take action.
Try them one at a time to see what works best for you. Every skin, every hair is different. One remedy that works for most might not work for you. So take your time and be persistent. Don’t give up after a couple tries. All these remedies are natural, and it takes time for them to work their magic.
