Adding small routines and keeping those routines are the best way to care for and maintain your hair. Routines are always tricky when there are too many steps. If these steps are unrelated to what you do daily, it just won’t stick. Start small and start adding them to already established time frames. This will help you get started and continue bettering your hair care routine.
It is always easy to just take a shower and not do anything for your hair, not even brush your hair if that is you, and you complain about frizzy, dull hair then it is time to do something about your hair.
Choose from these five-minute-or-less tasks that can keep messes in check and frizzy hair from taking over:
- Brush your hair daily
Be gentle though, brush it daily and start brushing from the bottom. Brush the ends, then go higher so if there are any tangles you won’t damage your hair. Daily brushing your hair will also help you keep your hair tangle-free.
- Use a conditioner
Sometimes we forget the importance of a conditioner, buying and placing it near your shampoo will remind you to use a conditioner after every shower. This will leave your hair softer and again help with tangles and frizziness.
- Don’t mix and match your hair care products
Using different products for different purposes all at the same time may sound like a good idea, but your hair doesn’t get it. Using the same product line or at least products for the same purpose will help with the main problems of your hair. If it isn’t working just research and find a better product line for your hair.
- Don’t use hot water when you shower
I am sure you have heard this a hundred times, but it is time to start working on it to achieve it. Start decreasing the temperature everytime you shower, so you do not shock your body and not feel it is sustainable for you to continue. Take as much time as you need, just make sure you do not scare yourself off and feel like it is not sustainable.
- Use hair masks our deep conditioning treatments regularly
Pollution in the air, weather, styling tools, even our pillows continuously work on damaging our hair. Even when we take great care of our hair, it is always important to deep condition our hair and give the nutrients and hydration our hair needs.
You can either take 5 minutes to prepare a DIY hair mask or purchase a deep conditioning treatment and apply it on your hair. Either way, it just doesn’t take too much time. After you apply it on your hair, you can continue with your day with whatever you’d do regardless.
- Don’t tie your hair too often and too tight
Tying your hair too often and too tight causes your hair to not breath, and it also causes split ends. So, try to let your hair loose whenever you can and let that hair breath. When hair is tied too tight, it breaks and damages the hair.
- Don’t dye your hair too often
Bleach, chemicals in hair dyes they all damage our hair tremendously. It is important to let out hair breath and be themselves. This might not work out for you, and that is fine. But just keep in mind, if this is what you want to do, you need to give extra care, work harder and more often to keep your hair healthy.
- Embrace your natural hair texture and stay away from styling tools
Styling tools are those extreme temperatures all the hair care blogs warn you about. Heat just damages hair. If you have to use then make sure to use heat protectant sprays before using styling tools. After each use, try to apply a leave-in conditioner or a hair mask.
- Use essential oils
On Beauty Cults you can find many hair masks made up with most essential oils, or just essential oils for different purposes. Use the essential oils for your own needs and use them periodically to maintain your hair health. Essential oils are really great to hydrate and revitalize hair and skin.
- Drink more water
Drinking water hydrates you from within. When your body is hydrated so is your skin and hair. To get smooth, soft, and glowing hair; it is important to stay hydrated. Try to increase your water intake and keep a record of how much water you drink daily.
- Leave your split ends alone
When you see split ends, you should never try to pick at them or try to fix it. It will not be fixed until you actually get a trim. Picking your split ends will only make them worse and cause more.
- Don’t wash your hair too often instead use baby powder
Washing your hair too often will strip away natural oils. This will leave your hair dull and also cause split ends. So taking a shower Every 2-3 days is advised. If your hair is oily and you think this will make you look homeless, then you can use baby powder to dry up that oiliness.
- Use clarifying shampoo occasionally
Clarifying shampoos are great when used occasionally. Try to use them to get rid of all the build-up that has been left in your hair over time.
- Be gentle with your hair
Don’t be too harsh when it comes to your hair, do not rush. When brushing, drying or even styling your hair make sure to never rush into anything. Be as gentle as possible to cause as little damage as possible.
- Get periodic trims
Getting periodic trims will leave your hair soft and smooth, getting rid of split ends and helping grow your hair in better conditions. Your hair will also grow faster if you get periodic trims so don’t overlook it.
